Exciting opportunity for a pensions management professional to be totally involved with the development and implementation of a new pension scheme.
You will need to have worked in the pensions arena at a senior level for a number of years ideally in a variety of organisations.
You will need experience and skills in the following:
• Good technical pensions knowledge APMI qualified preferred
• Administration & pensions management experience (min 5 yrs)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of the business and (when established) scheme membership
• Good organisational and Co-ordination skills
• Negotiation skills and understanding of business (TUPE) transactions
• Ability to simplify and convey complicated ideals to help the business, Trustees and members understand relevant issues
• Ability to effectively project manage the implementation of the new scheme and prioritise Trustees work to enable agreed targets and governance issues to be delivered
• Knowledge of or working involvement with the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme (PCSPS) and or Teachers Pension Scheme (TPS)
• Ability to work as part of a team

Key accountabilities:
• Initiate meetings with the business to ensure progress of scheme set up runs smoothly so business requirements are understood and implemented where appropriate.
• Help with liaison with GAD as required during set up process to ensure Broad comparability with PCSPS and TPS
• Liaison with professional advisers and interpretation of their advice
• Assist in the drafting and preparation of the Scheme Rules and booklets
• Involvement with preparation of communications for members and unions during consultation and lead negotiations
• Liaise with the client and help with the negotiation of bulk transfer terms and conditions from PCSPS and TPS
• Assist in the selection and appointment of the trustees professional advisers and pensions administrators
• Understand interactions with pension payrolls
• Prepare communications to appoint MNTs
• Work with the Trustees and investment advisers to develop the SIP and set investment strategy
• Involvement with negotiations with Union representatives on Scheme design concerns
• Initiate Trustee business, organise meetings, liaison with 3rd parties, prepare agenda and issue papers
• Attend Trustee meetings, prepare formal minutes, maintain decision log, risk log, business plan
• Compile and draft Trustee annual report and accounts, prepare trustee communication to members
• Ensure Trustees meet TKU requirements, organise appropriate training as necessary
• Draft correspondence with regulatory bodies as required, submit annual returns to HMRC
• Ensure Trustee governance requirements are met at all times, taking necessary action to ensure compliance
• Support and help with the provision of administration, legal and consulting services provided to the Trustees
• Support and help with the in the selection of advisors in the ongoing environment as required
• Monitor suppliers’ performance where the above services are provided via a third party.
• Negotiate contractual matters for the Trustees as delegated
• Prepare, monitor and maintain the Trustees annual budget
• Oversee production of members explanatory literature
• Deal with members queries and any complaints
• Implement the Trustees Investment policy, including obtaining correct authorise as required.
